PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Perform and correlate Inventory Control functions necessary to establish economical controls and ensure material availability to support the Division's schedules and requirements. Reconcile, establish and report inventory accuracy, as required, by Division policies and procedures, using the Manufacturing and Control System.
WORKING PROCEDURE AND/OR RESPONSIBILITY ASSIGNED:
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.
Performs the following:
1. Analyze “material masters”, order rules and inventory status data and develop an economical inventory plan in accordance with material requirements.
2. Develop short term inventory levels of stock in economical increments in accordance with overall established production requirements and distribute ownership to proper accounts.
3. Determine and recommend materials to be stocked to meet production requirements.
4. Analyze material requirements to determine most effective utilization of affected inventory.
5. Determine availability, location and applicability of excess, oversize, customer owned or different material that would effectively meet requirements and perform required transactions for its use.
6. Analyze bill of materials, part data and quality requirements to identify discrepancies and suggest corrective action, as required, to Manufacturing Engineering, Part Planners and Quality Engineering.
7. Generate and release purchase requisitions and provide assistance, as required.
8. Identify, reconcile and adjust all discrepancies between inventory records and physical counts. Develop and publish reports.
9. Request cycle counts, spot checks, or location surveys as required to insure material availability and accuracy.
10. Support Senior Material Handlers in activities such as clarifying part data requirements, purchase requisitions, interpreting material history and investigating material problems.
11. Process shelf life paperwork for recertification or expiration, working with materials engineering.
12. Support the Principal Inventory Planner with delegated tasks.
13. Perform other work of equal or lower classification as required.

Manufacturing - Regarding material requirements, Schedules and material shortages - Frequent
Purchasing - To obtain information about procurement problems, expediting orders, cost reductions, order quantities, discount schedules and lead times - Frequent
Accounting - Regarding inventory ownership and adjustments - Occasional
Business Systems - Regarding requests for reports and software modifications - Occasional
Inter-Division - To exchange information concerning special problem of procurement, changes, transportation and expediting material related processes - Occasional
DIRECTION OF OTHERS:
Provide guidance & assistance to lower classified personnel, primarily Inventory Cycle Counters and Sr. Material handlers in the performance of assigned duties.
DIRECTION RECEIVED:
Receives assignments from Supervisor or Principal Inventory Planning Control and works with limited supervision. May receive technical direction from engineers about the effects of design changes on materials and substitutions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
Minimum of 3 years' work experience in production inventory control or equivalent experience directly related to the functions and responsibilities outlined in this position.
Minimum of 3 years’ work experience using the SAP environment or equivalent ERP software.
Experience performing cycle count inventory.
Experience and proficiency in units of measure, performing basic conversions for lengths, weights & volume.
US Citizenship is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 3 years’ work experience using SAP specifically for inventory or material control.
Demonstrated work experience in positions that required you to effectively communicate detailed data reports to other staff and management.
Experience interpreting inventory count sheets and transposing data to and from Microsoft Excel.
Work experience with ordering or creating requisitions for material.
Experience with material requirements planning (MRP) and or shelf life material management.
Experience working directly in a manufacturing position.
