The School for Environment and Sustainability ( SEAS) at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor is seeking a Biodiversity Postdoctoral Scientist working to understand and address urgent contemporary conservation problems. They will do so by linking theory and practice that address sustainability and ecosystem services issues through a biodiversity-focused lens. The successful applicant could focus on a broad range of topics including, but not limited to, ecological restoration, conservation genetics, ecosystem functioning, endangered species management, conservation planning, or climate change impacts on biodiversity. While the potential range of topics and systems are broad, the successful applicant will have a biodiversity-focused research program.

SEAS seeks applicants whose research, teaching, and service will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education. The program is particularly interested in scholars with the potential to bring to their research and undergraduate teaching the critical perspective that comes from their non-traditional educational background or understanding of the experiences of groups historically underrepresented in higher education.

SEAS views these postdoctoral fellowships as an opportunity to recruit potential new faculty to the University by offering the possibility of either a postdoc alone or a combined postdoc with consideration for a tenure track faculty appointment at the end of the postdoc appointment. Faculty at SEAS have a successful record of providing a nurturing and productive postdoctoral experience. This scholar will have the opportunity of interacting with and being part of the Institute for Global Change Biology, a community of scholars, faculty, postdocs, research scientists and students across units at the university working on the impacts of global environmental change factors.
