State Title: Administrative Assistant IV
This position is required to work in office at TxDMV headquarters located in Austin, TX five days per week Monday through Friday with some opportunity to telework as necessary for department efficiency. Selected candidate must reside within the greater Austin area.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Summer Internships are available at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV). The Summer Internship positions are available to students enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited college, university, vocational, trade, or technical school. Summer Internships are paid, full-time, temporary employment positions that begin no earlier than May 15, 2026, and end no later than August 31, 2026.
This Summer Internship position performs highly complex (senior-level) administrative support work involving records migration, compliance support, operational inventory, process documentation, data analysis and reporting modernization for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, in the Consumer Relations Division (CRD). This intern works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The successful candidate must exhibit high standards of excellence and integrity, and always display, to all persons, a courteous, professional, and cooperative attitude.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Preparing for the agency’s transition to the Box platform by reviewing and organizing division records in accordance with the agency’s retention policy, coordinating with Legal as needed, and supporting documentation cleanup to enable secure file migration and improved records management.
Supporting division readiness for the agency’s upcoming building relocation by assisting with inventory review, developing an updated tracking system, and helping document operational resources to ensure a smooth transition.
Partnering with the Quality Assurance team to help transition existing Excel-based performance metrics into a Power BI dashboard, supporting data analysis and reporting development to enhance operational visibility and data-driven decision making.
Required to attend work regularly and adhere to approved work hours in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Currently enrolled or graduated within the past 12 months from an accredited college, university, vocational, trade, or technical school with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
At least 18 years of age
Eligible to work in the United States

REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE
A valid Class "C" driver's license is required. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 90 days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct department business.
