Job Description

The Department of Business and Economics at Reykjavik University invites applications for two faculty positions in the fields of accounting & auditing or economics:

  • One position as lecturer (háskólakennari). The position can range from 50% to 100% of a full-time position. The position can range from lecturer to principal lecturer, depending on the current qualifications and position of the applicant.
  • One full-time faculty position as assistant, associate, or full professor depending on the current qualifications and position of the applicant.

One position should be filled as soon as possible, but not later than January 2027. The other position should be filled from May 2027, but not later than August 2027.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

For both positions:

  • Teaching courses in accounting & auditing or economics at undergraduate and graduate level
  • Supervision of students’ final theses at undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Participation in the administration of the Department of Business and Economics, including the development of study lines and course offerings

Additionally for the position of assistant, associate, or full professor:

  • Research in accounting & auditing, economics or related fields

QUALIFICATIONS

For the position of lecturer:

  • A master’s degree in accounting & auditing, economics, or related fields. A PhD degree is an advantage.
  • Teaching experience at the university level and an ambition for excellence in teaching
  • Excellent English and Icelandic proficiency is a precondition. Candidates without working proficiency in Icelandic are expected to achieve working proficiency within a period of two years.
  • Work experience in the corresponding field outside of a university is an advantage.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills

For the position of assistant, associate, or full professor:

  • A PhD degree in accounting & auditing, economics, or related fields
  • Relevant research experience documented by peer-reviewed publications in international academic journals
  • Teaching experience at the university level and an ambition for excellence in teaching
  • Excellent English proficiency is a precondition. Icelandic proficiency is an advantage.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills

Relocation assistance is available. Reykjavik University is a bilingual university where courses at the master's level and a high ratio of courses at the bachelor level are taught in English.
