Grade:
Assists students, either individually or in small groups, in the review of course material, solving problems and preparing for tests.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists students in the review of course material and problem solving.
- Coordinates and/or conducts workshops and study groups for students; conducts marketing activities such as class visits and new student orientations.
- Serves as a communication link and faculty liaison.
- Guides students in selecting and using material to meet learning needs.
- Maintains a weekly calendar of available hours for student appointments.
- Maintains instructional materials (e.g. textbooks, calculators, software, etc.).
- Collects and analyze data.
- Participates in required tutor training.
- Provides supervision in the absence of a Learning Center Supervisor as delegated and assist TLCc Management with recruiting, screening, hiring, orienting, mentoring and retaining new peer (student), and/or volunteer tutors.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level of assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of thirty (30) hours of postsecondary course work to include a minimum of nine (9) hours in the specific discipline; content courses must be completed with a grade of B or better.
Preferences:
- Perspective tutor are proficient in various Science courses (Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Micro Biology, Biology, A & P, and Physics) Mathematics classes (up to Calculus III, Statistics, Geometry). Expertise in higher level math and Sciences courses, or plans to enroll in these higher level courses.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
