Queensland Rail has an exciting opportunity for a Tutor Driver on a permanent full-time basis to join the team. As the Tutor Driver in Cairns, you will play an integral role in ensuring efficient and safe train operations for Regional TSD by participating in training program development, providing practice Tuition and performing valid assessments of competency in addition to performing the duties of a Locomotive Driver.
Your day to day as a Tutor Driver will include:
• Competently drive all forms of traction operated in the depot in accordance with Queensland Rail's safety and operational standards and procedures.
• Plan and effectively implement competency-based tuition and assessment for Regional Traincrew in order to ensure knowledge and skills are developed, applied, maintained and assessed in accordance with accreditation and legislative requirements.
• Provide Regional Traincrew with mentoring, coaching and support in train management, procedures and route competence to the required standards.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and upskilling of Route Mentors
• Provide subject matter expertise in the developments of training materials and assessment. Prepare, maintain and evaluate training and assessment materials, learning documents, logbooks as required.
• Perform valid and fair assessments of personnel and utilise a range of upskilling methods to ensure competence is maintained.
• Perform administrative duties including maintenance of required files and depot training records.
• Maintain professional development of requirements of Training and Assessment Practice.
• Be available to assist with Trainee Driver/Driver upskilling at any Regional Depot to maintain own Professional Development.
• You must be available to work a variety of different shifts which will include days, nights, weekends and public holidays.
Eligibility for interview:
• Apply with Cover Letter outlining your:
o driving experience including types of traction and locations/routes.
o mentoring/training/facilitation experience
• Hold Certificate in Train Driving - original must be presented prior to the next stage
• Currently hold a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or be willing to obtain within 12-months of being in the position
• Hold a current C Class Drivers Licence.
• Meet safety critical benchmark for psychometric assessment (conducted after application in Queensland)
• Confirm you will relocate to Cairns if successful, prior to your commencement date, and understand you will not be eligible to change depot locations for a minimum of two years as per the EA.
What you will bring to the team:
• At least three (3) years’ experience as current qualified Locomotive Driver
• A high level of oral, interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of rollingstock, train handling principles and safe working procedures.
• The ability to identify, analyse and resolve problems.
• Sound level of skill to plan and facilitate learning and assessment activities in a work environment
• Sound level of classroom facilitation skill
• A Diesel Electric Locomotive Qualification would be highly desirable
• DEL Traction experience and QLD safeworking qualification are preferred.
