Job Description

We are looking for an Environmental Engineer to join the Environmental Team at the Turquoise Ridge operation. As a vital member of this team, you will be responsible for supporting the protection and sustainable management of ecosystems, wildlife habitats, and disturbed lands associated with the mine operations. This role leads biodiversity assessments, monitoring, reclamation planning, habitat restoration, and environmental impact evaluations to support project development, operations, closure, and reduction of closure liabilities.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permit requirements, and reclamation commitments; develop and implement biodiversity and reclamation management plans; assess and mitigate impacts to sensitive species and habitats; and support sustainability and ESG objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with biodiversity, wildlife, vegetation, habitat, and reclamation assessments to support environmental compliance and operational activities.

  • Support the implementation of biodiversity management, habitat restoration, reclamation, and environmental monitoring programs.

  • Assist with reclamation planning, concurrent reclamation, and closure activities to help achieve regulatory requirements and reduce closure liabilities.

  • Conduct field inspections and monitoring activities related to vegetation establishment, wildlife, and reclamation performance.

  • Collect, manage, and analyze environmental monitoring data.

  • Assist in evaluating reclamation success criteria and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Support the maintenance of reclamation permits and associated regulatory commitments.

  • Prepare of technical reports, regulatory submissions, and environmental documentation.

  • Assist with tracking environmental, reclamation, and closure-related obligations, including monitoring programs and permit requirements.

  • Support cultural resource programs by coordinating field activities with qualified consultants and assisting with regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Mine Planning, Operations, and Permitting teams to support environmental permitting and project development activities.

  • Participate in environmental impact assessments and permit modification applications as needed.

  • Maintain environmental, reclamation, and GIS databases to support reporting and decision-making.

  • Communicate and work effectively with regulatory agencies, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding environmental monitoring, reclamation, and permitting activities.

  • Participate in the planning and implementation of environmental compliance projects and programs.

  • Stay informed on applicable environmental regulations, industry best practices, and company standards related to biodiversity, reclamation, and closure.

  • Comply with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and company policies and procedures

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources, Reclamation, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. required

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in environmental compliance and reclamation/closure roles preferred

  • Experience with ecological assessments, biodiversity management, land reclamation, and environmental monitoring programs. preferred

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and reclamation standards. required

  • Experience with reclamation planning, closure objectives, and revegetation practices. preferred

  • Proficiency in GIS, environmental data management, and technical report writing. preferred

  • Strong project management, communication, stakeholder engagement, and field coordination skills. required

  • Strong computer skills (e.g. MS Office and data management programs) required
  • Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
  • Experience with regulatory compliance programs in the state of Nevada preferred
  • Knowledge of NEPA and state level permitting actions preferred
  • Experience managing biodiversity programs and initiatives, such as designated/protected species management, noxious weed management, or habitat management preferred

  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 standards preferred
