Job Description

iRocket is pushing the frontier of reusable rocket propulsion. We’re looking for a Turbo Pump Engineer to design, analyze, and test turbomachinery for our reusable engines.

The Role

  • Design, model, build, and test high-performance turbopumps (inducers/impellers/diffusers) for cryogenic rocket engines.
  • Perform hydrodynamic, aerodynamic, bearing, and rotor-dynamics analysis for rotating assemblies.
  • Develop manufacturing plans and build books, manage tolerance stack-ups, and ensure as-built compliance.
  • Monitor performance trends, analyze cavitation, vibration, thrust-balance, and clearance growth.
  • Execute root-cause investigations, iterate designs to improve cost, lead-time, and reliability.
  • Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, test, and propulsion design teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 3+ years of turbomachinery or rocket-engine component experience, including design/build/test of turbopumps or related systems.
  • Strong knowledge of fluid/rotordynamics, cryogenics, bearings, and rotating machine behavior.
  • Proficiency in CAD (Siemens NX, SolidWorks, etc.), CFD/FEA, and test instrumentation.
  • Experience with machined, additively-manufactured parts, weldments, fasteners, seals, and rotating assemblies.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, and ability to lead hardware workflows to delivery.
