Job Description

This position is integral to the successful delivery of our projects, ensuring that tunnelling and underground works meet the highest standards and client expectations. The Tunnel Engineer will work closely with the Senior Tunnel Construction Engineer and various teams to guarantee the smooth execution of these complex projects.

  • Provide technical support and engineering assurance for TTT bored tunnels and underground cavern works.
  • Ensure construction aligns with approved designs, methodologies, and client standards.
  • Maintain strong coordination and communication with contractors and internal teams.
  • Assist in the implementation of construction methodologies for tunnelling and cavern works.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct QA/QC processes and inspections to maintain quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Tunnel Construction Engineer on daily engineering tasks.
  • Stay updated with industry standards and guidelines, particularly EN/BS standards and ITA tunnelling guidelines.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to the project team and contractors.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of project-specific procedures and protocols.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in tunnelling and underground construction projects.
  • Exposure to TBM tunnelling techniques (EPB, slurry, or hard rock) and cavern excavation methods (NATM/SEM or drill & blast).
  • Experience in site-based roles on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Working knowledge of TBM operations, tunnelling processes, and underground excavation and support systems.
  • Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and QA/QC processes.
  • Familiarity with EN/BS standards and ITA tunnelling guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills for effective collaboration with teams and contractors.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for addressing construction challenges.
