About the Job

As Batch and DB Performance & Tuning Expert you will work with the Performance & Tuning Team to optimize and tune processes within the ABS environment, with a focus on batch operations. Your responsibilities include not only the expansion and evaluation of performance data from the Performance Warehouse but also the analysis of DB2 statements. You will serve as a point of contact for application developers on specific optimization questions, providing them with recommendations and concrete requirements. Additionally, you will maintain constant communication and contact with colleagues in DB2 administration and architects.

What you do

  • Analysis of applications (jobs, web and batch services, and ABS client) with a focus on CPU consumption in both the Db2 and Microfocus Enterprise Server environments
  • Tuning and optimization of applications in terms of performance and runtime
  • Consulting and providing solutions for Performance Warehouse, analysis, and monitoring functions under Linux and PostgreSQL
  • Identification, capture, and monitoring of relevant application performance metrics and their integration into the Performance Warehouse

What you bring

  • Completed studies in Mathematics/Computer Science or several years of professional experience in the field of databases
  • German skills in speaking and writing (C2 or fluent) and good English skills
  • Advanced knowledge in programming languages PL/1, JCL, JAVA, and solid knowledge in relational databases, particularly Db2 and PostgreSQL
  • Technical understanding of job processes as well as experience with Grafana and Prometheus
  • Experience in the design and further development of a Performance Warehouse, including reporting/dashboarding and the design of data cubes
  • Experience with AWX and Spoon as well as BetaUX is advantageous
  • Communication and teamwork skills, as well as didactic competence in conveying complex technical and data-specific contexts, complete your profile
  • Basic knowledge of AI technologies, principles, and their practical use.
