Job Description

The purpose of the Tufting Lead Maintenance Tech is to be responsible for service and repair of all the tufting related machines and equipment in the department including facilitating PM’s and managing parts inventory.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to trouble shoot and then fix the tufting machine, warpers, and other equipment in the department.
  • Responsible for correct style set-up in tufting machines.
  • To help machine operators to make set-up if needed.
  • Help machine operators’ work on machine lines, blades, loopers, etc.
  • Reblade and rehook machines as necessary.
  • Rebuild and overhaul machines as necessary.
  • Responsible for making first quality carpet and notifying supervisor of any quality problem.
  • Maintain and ensure machines and equipment within the tufting department have preventative maintenance performed on a designated schedule.
  • Help ensure the tufting department maintains the correct types and quantities of machine parts.

Performance Expectations (if applicable):

  • Lifting is required of machine parts and tools of various weight multiple times per shift.
  • Standing is required approximately 6 hours per shift.
  • Reaching, stooping, and bending are required multiple time for various amounts of time throughout shift.
  • Must be able to operate lift truck.
  • Must be able to use tools continuously during shift.
  • Must be able to climb underneath machines or on top of machines if needed.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, and kneel.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to read and write and do basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  • Computer knowledge or data entry skills are a necessary part of the job.

Other Requirements:

  • Overtime is required on occasion.
  • All accidents must be reported immediately.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Must be trained in Lockout / Tagout.
  • Safety equipment must be worn as required.
  • Report to management any quality, safety, or potential problems encountered while performing the job.
  • Responsible for quality and safety of his/her own output.
