General Summary
This is a hands-on position for someone with experience in tube bending and/or tube forming who enjoys working with machinery, solving problems, and producing quality parts.
The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of tube bending and forming processes and the mechanical aptitude to learn, grow, and become highly skilled in these areas. We are looking for someone who is interested in becoming a go-to resource for tube bending and forming as their knowledge and experience develop.
Essential Functions
- Set up and operate tube bending and tube forming equipment.
- Work Directly with Engineering department to develop new parts and gather part data for prints.
- Perform tube bending and forming operations according to blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
- Assist with selecting and setting up appropriate dies, tooling, clamps, mandrels, and other equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Make machine and tooling adjustments to achieve proper dimensions, angles, and shapes.
- Inspect completed parts using measuring equipment such as calipers, tape measures, angle gauges, and other measuring tools.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with bends, forming, tooling, materials, and machine settings.
- Learn and apply proper techniques for preventing issues such as spring back, wrinkling, flattening, cracking, and distortion.
- Work with a variety of tube sizes, materials, and configurations.
- Assist in developing and improving tube bending and forming processes.
- Learn and maintain repeatable setups for existing and new parts.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Maintain equipment and communicate maintenance needs as necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety and quality procedures.
- Work effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
- Continue developing knowledge and skills in tube bending and forming.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
