Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Traffic Management Supervisor – Coastal Otago IDC to join our team in Dunedin. This role is responsible for leading traffic management operations, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of services, and supporting operational performance across the region.

Reporting to the Traffic Operations Manager – Lower South, you will lead day to day traffic management operations within the Coastal Otago IDC area.

You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising traffic management activities, ensuring operational delivery meets contractual obligations while optimising resources, plant utilisation and team performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership to ensure Downer’s purpose, directions and values are embedded within the team.

  • Lead the IDC Traffic Management team to deliver high quality outcomes for clients.

  • Contribute to business planning and operations strategy.

  • Implement best practice traffic management systems and methodologies.

  • Lead by example to promote a safety, environmental responsibility and sustainability.

  • Promote a positive team culture that supports productivity and professional growth.

Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills

You will be a hands on supervisor who can coordinate crews, manage plant and resources, and deliver high quality outcomes while championing a strong safety first culture.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Proven supervisory experience with responsibility for staff, plant and operational performance

  • Experience or knowledge of the traffic management or construction sectors

  • Category A/B Site Traffic Management Supervisor qualifications

  • Ability to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders and operational teams

  • Strong computer and IT skills
