Position:TSUB Combat System Chief Engineer – PMS425

Nature of Role:MIKEL is in need of a qualified Chief Engineer supporting the TSUB Combat System Program Office PMS 425.

Responsibilities:

include but are not limited to:

  • General duties include technical engineering support to the Submarine Combat and Weapon Control System Program Office, providing direct support to the PMS425 Chief Engineer with technical oversight and direction to the integration of BYG-1 Non-Developmental Item (NDI) Applications. You will perform technical reviews on submittals including drawings, system diagrams, technical manual, test/install procedures, test results, contract deliverable reviews, delivery milestones. You will troubleshoot, analyze, and determine operating problems, make appropriate recommendations and changes to correct deficiencies in coordination with the program CHENG and Technical Direction Agent (TDA) team. You will provide technical concurrence for the NDI applications in support of entrance into formal test and delivery milestones

Requirements:

  • Active secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical, engineering, or cybersecurity field.
  • 10 or more years of experience in engineering/science management, operations research analysis, or a relevant field
  • 5 or more years of experience with Navy acquisition and/or In-Service Programs
  • 2+ years of experience with Navy Engineering Support
  • Must be local to the Washington, DC or Newport, RI area and able to travel to support in-person meetings/test events/training events as needed (~1-2 times per month)
  • Ability to analyze and process engineering program documentation
  • Ability to develop/document/implement new processes
  • Ability to analyze program risks and develop risk assessments
  • Must be proactive, work independently, and within a team environment
  • Proficient with running a meeting and taking minutes/managing actions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams

Experience:

  • 15 or more years of experience in engineering/science management, operations research analysis, or a relevant field
  • 10 or more years of experience with Navy acquisition and/or In-Service Programs
  • Master’s Degree in technical, engineering, or cybersecurity field.
  • Experience leading a project and interfacing with an end item customer
  • Experience with Navy, or DOD, Acquisition programs
  • Experience with Navy, or DoD, Test and Evaluation programs
  • Experience with US Navy Submarines or Navy combat systems
  • Experience with Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) programs and processes.
  • Experience or familiarity with the BYG-1 submarine combat system
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Microsoft Project experience
  • Experience with web-based project management tools (such as Jira) including creating and managing projects, boards, and workflows.

Work Location: Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, RI

Travel: Periodic travel will be required (mostly to the WNY/Washington DC Metro area)
