Job Description
Swissport is seeking a Trucking Shunter to join our Irish Trucking Operation at Dublin Airport.
This critical role acts as the physical link between our warehouse operations and our logistics network. Working back-to-back with our current shunter on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern consisting of 12-hour shifts, you will be responsible for the fluid movement of trailers and freight within the hub.
You will work directly alongside our Trucking Co-Ordinators and warehouse teams to ensure that the planning executed in the office is reflected accurately on the ground. This role requires a proactive individual who understands that precision in the yard leads to efficiency on the road.

- Yard Management: Safely and efficiently move trailers between loading bays and designated parking areas to facilitate a continuous workflow.
- Loading & Offloading: Assist in the loading and unloading of trailers, ensuring all freight is handled securely and according to safety protocols.
- Freight Location: Identify and locate specific freight within the warehouse to ensure "just-in-time" loading for scheduled departures.
- Local Operations: Conduct local collections and deliveries within the Dublin area as required by the Trucking Co-Ordinator.
- Operational Synergy: Work in constant communication with the Trucking Office staff to provide real-time updates on trailer status and bay availability.
- Safety & Compliance: Conduct daily vehicle checks and maintain a clean, organized yard environment, adhering to all aviation security and health and safety standards.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Licensing: Full, valid HGV license (C+E) with an up-to-date CPC card is essential.
- Experience: Proven experience in shunting or heavy goods driving, preferably within a fast-paced cargo or logistics environment.
- Shift Flexibility: This role operates on a 4-on, 4-off rotation of 12-hour shifts You must be comfortable with this pattern and have a flexible approach to covering holidays or sickness within the shunting team.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to coordinate effectively with office staff via radio or in person.
- Physical Fitness: The ability to handle freight and navigate a busy warehouse/yard environment throughout a 12-hour shift.
- Reliability: As a back-to-back role, punctuality and a strong work ethic are vital to ensure the smooth handover of operations.
