Peterson Trucks has the immediate need for an experienced Truck Sales Representative based at our San Leandro, CA location.

The Truck Sales Representative promotes, sells, and delivers new and used trucks to customers. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining strong customer relationships, coordinating with internal departments on sales, generating and maintaining documentation, and staying informed on product offerings, financing, and market trends to achieve sales goals and support overall business growth.

This position requires the Truck Sales Representative to be away from the employer’s place of business more than 50% of the time interacting with customers at their locations and/or job sites.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Promote and sell new and used trucks by visiting customers at their sites; contact customers by telephone when face-to-face is not practical.
  • Maintain and apply up-to-date knowledge of features, benefits, and financing options of all new and used truck offerings.
  • Present truck features and benefits to customers and determine additional information needed to meet the customer’s specific needs.
  • Foster positive business relations with existing accounts through frequent communication and high-quality customer service.
  • Grow customer base by identifying and calling on prospective customers.
  • Maintain frequent communication with Product Support Sales Representatives (PSSRs) for assigned accounts to exchange customer information.
  • Maintain and submit necessary paperwork and reports related to truck sales in a timely and complete manner.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activities as needed to maximize customer satisfaction and ensure an efficient the sales process.
  • Coordinate truck service work with the Service department as needed.
  • Deliver vehicles to customers as needed.
  • Continually gather and communicate information to management on local competition and prevalent industry and business climate..
  • Participate in sales blitzes, open house, and sales programs.
  • Document and inform the Sales Manager of potential process improvements.
  • Cooperate, communicate, and work closely with Sales and other departments.
  • Attend and participate in strategic sales meetings, and business/trade events.
  • Travel away from base location overnight up to 10% of time to visit customers, attend meetings and events, and perform other essential job functions. Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Display excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers/ coworkers, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Respectfully take direction from supervisor/manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college; and a minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience, preferably in the medium/heavy duty commercial truck or construction equipment industry; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Sales or Management experience in the medium/heavy duty commercial truck or construction industries highly preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver License and Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card within one (1) year of hire date.
