Job Description

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

MISSION:

The Truck Loader is responsible for facilitating and assisting all operations involving loading materials on trucks for delivery. This responsibility includes order fulfillment, load inspection, material counts, inventory control, and general customer service. Safe and efficient forklift operation is essential to the position.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures that all delivered orders are loaded on time, accurately, and in full with the appropriate protection against the weather. All orders must be handled with care to eliminate damage to the product. All orders must be tagged and banded appropriately. Millwork items should be shrink-wrapped. Failure to do so will impact the employee’s monthly bonus.
  • Materials should be loaded on trucks in the most efficient manner possible, so they are not damaged under the weight of other materials or by strapping.
  • Truck weight and safety requirements must be satisfied, and the load distribution should be considered.
  • First loads should be loaded so that trucks can leave by 7am unless otherwise approved by management.
  • Assists customers and coworkers by helping locate and load orders for pick up or delivery, checking in returns, checking in transfers, and answering general questions. All paperwork corresponding to orders, transfers, and credits must be turned in daily to your manager.
  • Drivers and customers must have the appropriate paperwork before they are loaded or unloaded.
  • Pictures should be taken and loaded into BisTrack for received transfers and when BCI orders are loaded.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the staging yard. All stock and special-order items are to be tagged and in their correct place. Stock should always be stored properly, and material should be kept out of the weather when damage results from not doing so. Overstock and credits should be put away in a timely manner.
  • Trash should be swept up and trash cans emptied.
  • Cull items should be taken out of stock quickly and placed in the auction pile.
  • Inventory discrepancies and shortages should be reported to management immediately.
  • Communicates via phone and radio with management, sales staff, yard staff, drivers, and customers as required to ensure accurate and timely processing of all operations. Notifies the appropriate team members when back orders, delays, damaged products, shipping errors, or picking errors occur to ensure the proper reorders and handling occurs.
  • Adheres to all general and safety guidelines and reports any issues to management immediately.
  • Report any equipment failures and maintenance needs to your manager.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with all employees, customers, vendors, and delivery personnel.
  • Maintain a professional dress code with a Talbert logo on the shirt.
  • Complete special projects at the direction of your manager.

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and take instruction and correction in a positive manner.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License issued by the state of residence.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds regularly and work in all types of weather conditions.
