In this role, you'll:

  • Competently operate Heavy Combination vehicles to Heavy Vehicle Chain of Responsibility (HVCoR) requirements and hold a HC Class Drivers Licence
  • Load and unload plant from trailer and tow any trailers that their vehicle is rated to tow.
  • Operate a variety of major plant items that are used in road construction and maintenance projects driven to worksites.
  • Operate a HIAB or similar truck mounted crane.
  • Travel throughout the region to attend worksites including attending call outs on weekends and after hours scheduled night work where required.
  • Perform any of the duties of a Road Worker Grade 3 as and when required.

This position involves transporting, unloading/loading and operating construction plant with a heavy combination truck and trailer combination.

This is an ongoing full-time role based at Welby.

You may be required to work outside of normal working hours, and you may also be required to travel throughout the region and work at locations away from home.

TfNSW take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be eligible for this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 75 kms driving distance from the Welby Depot.

About you

You are an experienced Heavy Combination Truck Driver who has the capability to work under limited supervision and has experience in maintaining a safe and injury free workplace for all employees while operating in a high speed, high traffic volume environment.

You’ll be confident in Heavy Vehicle Chain of Responsibility (HVCoR) requirements and highly capable operating major plant including Backhoe, Excavator and Skid Steer and have proven experience rectifying simple hazards without direction and reporting them accordingly.

You hold a current Australian Heavy Combination (HC) licence and have a strong driving record.

You hold a current Construction Industry White Card.

You are ideally qualified with Traffic Controller tickets (Implement Traffic Control / Prepare Work Zone), though this is preferred and not essential.

You are experienced in labouring within a construction or civil environment.

You have traffic control certification (Workers on Foot) preferred.

You are familiar with local road networks across the district.

You are willing to complete any required legislative or internal training, licences, or tickets as needed.
