Job Description

In this role, you'll:

  • Operate Light and Medium Rigid vehicles as an MR Truck Driver for the Maintenance & Delivery or Construction team.
  • Tow trailers within the rated capacity of your vehicle.
  • Perform general roadwork labouring duties at Road Worker Grade 3 level.
  • Carry out maintenance and manual labour tasks using plant, equipment, and both powered and non-powered hand tools when not driving the truck.
  • Collaborate with Team Leaders and Works Supervisors to manage daily operations, complete tasks, and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Travel across the region to attend worksites, respond to callouts, and work night shifts when required.
  • Work a 9-day fortnight schedule

This is an ongoing full-time role based at Welby.

You may be required to work outside of normal working hours, and you may also be required to travel throughout the region and work at locations away from home.

TfNSW take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be eligible for this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 75 kms driving distance from the Welby Depot.

About you

  • You’re an experienced Truck Driver who can work independently and maintain a safe, injury-free workplace in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment.
  • You hold a current Australian Medium Rigid (MR) licence and have a strong driving record.
  • You hold a current Construction Industry White Card.
  • You are ideally qualified with Traffic Controller tickets (Implement Traffic Control / Prepare Work Zone), though this is preferred and not essential.
  • You are experienced in labouring within a construction or civil environment.
  • You have traffic control certification (Workers on Foot) preferred.
  • You are familiar with local road networks across the district.
  • You are willing to complete any required legislative or internal training, licences, or tickets as needed.
