Job Category: TransportationUnder the direction of the Lead Driver and Warehouse Manager, park, operate and dock assigned vehicle. Major duties include loading and unloading materials, following designated routes, completing daily trip log, and maintaining assigned vehicle.
Essential Functions/Duties
- Follow all applicable traffic laws and DOT laws.
- Fill out a daily trip log completely for each vehicle used; maintain records as required by the Organization’s guidelines.
- Park, operate and dock vehicle assigned as directed by the Warehouse Manager and/or Lead Truck Driver; adhere and conform to the approved designated route.
- Load materials onto the truck in an organized and safe manner; unload vehicles assigned and move goods collected to designated areas.
- In charge of truck material and personnel assigned when out of the main plant yard.
- Maintain preventative maintenance of the vehicle making sure it is in good operating condition at all times.
- Report all accidents, injuries, equipment damage or violations as soon as they occur.
- Responsible for instilling proper attitude toward safety and security and ensuring that all operations are performed in accordance with the Organization’s safety and security programs.
- Present proper image of Goodwill Industries to the general public.
- Maintain appropriate dress code including name badge and proper safety shoes.
- Obtain signatures or proper documentation to confirm and complete transaction with clients.
- Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean.
Additional Functions/Duties
- Assist Lead Driver and Warehouse Manager with coordinating store deliveries, trailer rotation and trash pickup to insure effectiveness and efficient operation.
- Maintain a close watch on waste and supplies.
- Maintain assigned and unassigned vehicles.
- Assist the Lead Driver with the preparation of progress reports for clients assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Driver and Warehouse Manager.

QualificationsThe list below is representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability utilized while performing this job.
- Ability to adhere to the organization’s Core Principles.
- Must be at least 25 years of age for insurance purposes and able to meet requirements of Goodwill insurance carrier.
- Ability to operate a truck safely.
- Knowledge of straight truck and tractor trailer equipment; knowledge of proper handling procedures for trailers. DOT rules and regulations. Air brakes.
- Knowledge of loading procedures to prevent breakage and damage.
Education and/or Experience
High School education or equivalent is required. A minimum of two (2) years’ truck driving experience. Prefer working experience with people who have disabilities and/or previous Goodwill experience.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have beginner knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge and understanding of Global Positioning Satellite (GPS).

- Regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Vision abilities required by this job include: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Standing and sitting for long periods of time.
- Perform work outside and inside; exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, electricity, noise, fumes and chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud (examples: metal can manufacturing department, large earth-moving equipment).
License and Certifications
Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record and current private auto insurance policy. Valid Class A CDL is required and Doubles Endorsement (T) is highly preferred.
