Job Description

The Truck Driver / Cleaner is responsible for supporting campus operations through waste and recycling collection and custodial services. This position primarily operates a campus truck to collect trash and recycling from campus buildings and performs routine cleaning services in assigned facilities. The role supports a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Truck Driving and Waste Collection (Approximately 20 hours per week)

• Operate a campus truck safely and efficiently to collect trash and recycling from buildings across the campus.
• Follow established routes and schedules for waste and recycling pickup.
• Load, transport, and unload trash and recyclable materials in accordance with campus and safety guidelines.
• Perform basic vehicle checks and report maintenance or safety issues as needed.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, campus regulations, and safety procedures while operating the vehicle.

Custodial Services (Remaining scheduled hours)

• Perform routine cleaning of three small campus buildings, including but not limited to:
• Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
• Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms
• Emptying trash and recycling receptacles
• Dusting and wiping surfaces
• Use cleaning equipment and supplies safely and properly.
• Maintain assigned areas to campus cleanliness and sanitation standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to safely operate a truck and follow driving routes.
• Basic knowledge of custodial cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Commitment to workplace safety and customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work scheduled hours consistently.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Position requires physical activity including lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing or walking for extended periods.
