The TRIO Academic Success Coach is primarily responsible for all counseling services and transfer assistance related to the Program and reports directly to the Director of TRIO.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Becomes knowledgeable and remains current regarding the scope and purpose of the SSS program at Co-Lin
- Advises and counsels TRIO students
- Supervises individual and group counseling sessions
- Functions as an advisor, instructor, counselor, tutor, and professional staff person
- Assists the Director with the selection of students, reports, and evaluation
- Provides progress reports
- Consults with faculty, financial aid and admissions officials on behalf of Program participants;
- Provides periodic workshops on affective and academic topics, such as stress management, test taking, etc.
- Tracks students’ academic progress
- Coordinate activities pertaining to the transfer of students to 4-year institutions and conduct site visits to 4-year institution and track student transfer to these universities
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsMINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree in counseling, student services, psychology or closely related field
- Three (3) years of counseling/advising experience
- Knowledge of the academic, economic, social and cultural needs of disadvantaged youth
- Experience in testing procedures and the interpretation of academic and career inventories
