Job Description

The TCB Implementation Engineer will be part of the centralised Trim Coordination Build (TCB) team and will serve as the primary point of contact for TCB activities within IMG Ford.

This role is responsible for coordinating Nominal Engineering Buck (NEB) tooling development, prototype part readiness, supplier alignment, vehicle build activities, and manufacturing implementation support. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve fit, finish, and coordination issues throughout prototype and launch build phases.

The position is based in Chennai, India.

Parts Ordering & Build Scope Management

  • Develop TCB0 and TCB1 Bills of Material (BOMs) and validate them with Design & Release Engineers.
  • Partner with Prototype Program Management teams to support part ordering activities.
  • Support disposition of red-border parts and ensure part readiness.
  • Verify availability and accuracy of part pedigree information.
  • Develop and maintain conformance plans for soft-tool and surrogate-supported parts.
  • Coordinate approval of conformance plans with functional leadership.
  • Develop the Scope of Work for Nominal Engineering Buck (NEB) activities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers through concept, design, and physical buy-off processes.

TCB Event Planning & Execution

  • Lead TCB0 and NEB buy-off events and track identified issues through closure.
  • Coordinate NEB logistics, installation, and certification activities.
  • Review and validate supplier gauge concepts and designs.
  • Support checking fixture development and buy-off activities.
  • Lead NEB and checking fixture correlation assessments.
  • Conduct awareness and training sessions for suppliers, manufacturing teams, and engineering stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain implementation readiness documentation.
  • Lead TCB1 events and identify fit, finish, coordination, and assembly concerns.
  • Facilitate issue-review meetings to prioritise and track problem resolution.
  • Manage build-event data and maintain updates in required tracking systems.
  • Participate in governance and management reviews and communicate build status.
  • Develop executive summaries and post-event reports.
  • Drive issue resolution activities with suppliers, plants, and cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and maintain risk mitigation plans for vehicle build and launch milestones.
  • Support plant teams during TCB2, TCB3, and vehicle validation build activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in automotive product development, prototype builds, vehicle launch, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, preferably Teamcenter.
  • Strong understanding of final assembly components and vehicle integration processes.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience in fixture development, validation, and manufacturing tooling.
  • Strong problem-solving and issue resolution skills.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting prototype vehicle builds and launch activities.
  • Supplier coordination and technical review experience.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality processes and build validation activities.
  • Knowledge of vehicle fit-and-finish assessment methodologies.
  • Experience working with Ford build systems and processes.
