Ready to trade your desk for trails, teamwork, and adventure? The Whatcom Family YMCA is looking for an energetic and passionate TREK Camp Supervisor to lead an unforgettable outdoor summer experience for youth in grades 5–7.
As the leader of our traveling adventure camp, you’ll guide a team of awesome staff and help campers explore parks, trails, and outdoor spaces across Whatcom and Skagit counties. Your mission? Create a safe, engaging, and empowering camp environment where kids build confidence, friendships, and independence.
What You’ll Do
As our Trek Camp Supervisor, you’ll be the heartbeat of camp operations for youth in grades 5-7. You’ll:
- Lead and inspire a dynamic team of counselors and staff
- Plan and oversee hands-on outdoor adventures including hiking, team challenges, STEM activities, service projects, and creative recreation
- Drive campers in a YMCA vehicle to exciting daily destinations
- Foster teamwork, leadership, and positive risk-taking
- Ensure safety, strong supervision, and high-quality programming
- Connect with families and create a welcoming camp community
You’ll spend your days outdoors, on your feet, solving problems, celebrating camper wins, and modeling what leadership with heart looks like.

- Understands group management and positive behavior guidance
- Values inclusion and works to ensure every child feels they belong
- Communicates clearly and builds strong relationships with families and colleagues
- Brings energy, flexibility, and a sense of humor to your work
- Experience working with school-aged youth (especially middle schoolers)
- At least 1 year of leadership or supervision experience
- Passion for youth development, outdoor learning, and teamwork

QualificationsWhat You’ll Need
- Experience working with youth (especially middle schoolers) in camp, child care, recreation, or similar settings
- At least 1 year of leadership or supervision experience
- CPR/First Aid/AED certifications (or ability to obtain before camp begins)
- A commitment to safety, inclusion, and YMCA core values: honesty, respect, caring, and responsibility
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to drive YMCA vehicles and maintain safety standards
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Wilderness First Aid or Lifeguard certification
- Knowledge of local parks and trails
- Outdoor adventure or camp leadership experience
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
