By joining the Division of Forestry, Forest Management Branch, Nursery Section as an Interim Tree Nursery Aide
in Marshall County, you will have the opportunity to provide support in nursery operations and assist in
ensuring the integrity and consistency of the nursery's tree seedlings.

Holders of the Tree Nursery Aide Interim position will complete tasks such as:
  • Assisting nursery personnel with the daily monitoring of nursery conditions, activities, and performance.
  • Preparing beds for seeding, and covering beds with mulch.
  • Collecting, extracting, and processing various types of seed.
  • Maintaining beds, keeping them weeded, irrigated, and fertilized to promote seedling growth.
  • Lifting, packing, and shipping bare root tree seedlings.

Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Effective organization and documentation skills.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
One year of agriculture, horticulture, tree care, or farm operations experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education or training in agriculture, horticulture, tree care, forestry, or farm operations will substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
NONE

Work is typically performed in a tree nursery setting.
