Job Description

You could be pioneering a new role with us within Reinsurance Business Operations. Your challenge would be increasing our support for Reinsurance Property & Casualty Markets underwriting and client management. You would be energized by managing multiple priorities and deadlines with potential for high financial impact and choosing where and how you work.

About the role

You would work closely with Underwriting, supporting with deal acquisition activities/analysis and portfolio overviews, and ensuring that decisions are made based on the most up-to-date and reliable information. You would also be responsible for overall business coordination of an assigned business segment, including ensuring statutory and internal control guidelines are met.

This is a dual-focus role: 50% Business Coordination | 50% Underwriting Analyst

Key Responsibilities

Business Coordination:

  • Oversee day-to-day business operations for an assigned portfolio segment, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal control standards.
  • Verify contract terms and conditions against agreed deal parameters and internal guidelines
  • Track deal lifecycle milestones and ensure timely handoffs across functions
  • Escalate operational risks or data quality issues proactively to maintain a strong governance environment
  • Partner with global colleagues to align best practices and consistent standards across markets
  • Enter contractual deal information into systems for consumption by other functions, such as Finance, Accounting, Claims and Reserving

Underwriting Analyst:

  • Check contract terms and conditions, analyze submission data, investigate, and resolve data issues, review, and report treaty exposure data (Year-over-Year developments, material changes) and load information on costing tools
  • Communicate directly with clients, clarify, and follow up on any issues and potentially be part of negotiations
  • Analyze submission data and resolve discrepancies to ensure accuracy in underwriting and costing tools
  • Review treaty exposure data including Year-over-Year developments and report material changes to underwriting teams. Load and maintain up-to-date information in costing tools for reliable downstream use
  • Engage directly with clients to clarify data queries and follow up on outstanding items
  • Support portfolio overviews and data-driven analysis to enable informed underwriting decisions

About the team

We are a friendly and diverse group of individuals located in U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Brazil with varying levels of experience in the reinsurance industry. We support North America Property and Casualty Reinsurance teams and units in delivering on their core mandates. We are part of a global team called Reinsurance Business Operations, and we work closely with our colleagues all over the globe.

About you

You’re a strategic and creative thinker when dealing with challenges and opportunities. Your strong interpersonal skills make it easier for you to work within a team. Flexibility and curiosity play a role in your ability to learn new skills quickly.

Essentials

  • University graduate with a degree in natural science or a quantitative field (Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Actuarial Sciences)
  • Minimum three years of experience within the Property & Casualty (Re)insurance industry
  • Data expertise and attention to detail, high level of confidence/practical know how in working with large data files (e.g., Modelling data), MS excel expert skills
  • Competent in Microsoft 365 suite, i.e., Power BI, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate data issues, identify root causes, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders
