Are you passionate about fixed income markets and excited by the opportunity to manage one of Europe’s largest liquidity investment portfolios? ING Group Treasury is looking for an experienced Fixed Income Specialist to join our Portfolio Management team. In this role, you will help manage a global EUR 100bn+ bond portfolio, combining portfolio management, market analysis and trading execution in a dynamic international environment.

The team

Group Treasury Issuance & Investments (GT I&I) is responsible for managing ING’s funding, liquidity and investment activities. Within GT I&I, Group Treasury Investments manages the High-Quality Liquid Assets (HQLA) portfolio that supports ING’s Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) requirements.

The portfolio consists of a diverse range of fixed income assets, including government bonds, sub-sovereigns, supra-nationals and agencies, covered bonds, corporate bonds and asset-backed securities.

As part of the Amsterdam-based Portfolio Management team, you will contribute to safeguarding the risk profile and performance of the global HQLA portfolio while supporting investment execution across ING entities worldwide.

Roles and responsibilities

As a Fixed Income Specialist, you will play a key role in managing portfolio performance and identifying investment opportunities within global fixed income markets.

• Manage and optimise a EUR 100bn+ global bond portfolio that forms part of ING’s LCR buffer.
• Identify and analyse investment opportunities across a broad range of fixed income asset classes.
• Assess market developments, monetary policy decisions and macroeconomic trends to determine portfolio implications.
• Execute investment transactions on behalf of ING entities and support trading activities across the organisation.
• Perform due diligence on investment proposals, risk limits and portfolio positioning.
• Monitor portfolio risks and performance to ensure alignment with investment objectives and governance standards.
• Develop and maintain relationships with liquidity providers, issuers, rating agencies, industry groups and other market participants.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Treasury, Risk and other internal functions to support effective investment decision-making.
• Contribute to continuous improvements in portfolio management processes, analytics and market insight capabilities.

• Hold a Master’s degree in Financial Economics or a related quantitative field, providing a strong foundation for investment analysis and decision-making.
• Bring at least 7 years of experience in fixed income markets through trading, portfolio management or a comparable investment role.
• Demonstrate strong expertise in fixed income instruments and the factors that drive market performance.
• Have proven experience pricing bonds and interest rate derivatives, enabling robust investment and risk assessments.
• Understand monetary policy, macroeconomics and international capital flows, and apply these insights to portfolio positioning.
• Recognise investment opportunities while maintaining a disciplined approach to risk management.
• Combine strong analytical capabilities with programming skills to support data-driven decision-making.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment and remain effective when operating under pressure.
• Communicate confidently with stakeholders at different levels of seniority, both internally and externally.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a commitment to regulatory compliance, governance and industry best practices.
