The incumbent will serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership, balancing precision in daily cash operations with sophisticated FX risk management and rigorous financial forecasting. This role is pivotal in ensuring the stability of our global financial infrastructure and providing the data-driven insights necessary to support Rakuten’s international growth.

Responsibilities:

Treasury & Cash Management

Oversee daily and weekly cash operations. Daily communication with banks. Review cash flow reports and make decisions on FX exposure positions (USD inflows / JPY outflows).

  • Review weekly cash flow and bank balance reports prepared by Precious
  • Manage USD receivable / JPY payable positions and determine FX conversion timing
  • Review weekly payment runs
  • Act as escalation point for bank inquiries, KYC, and VCC error resolution
  • Drive bank infrastructure projects such as SMBC account concentration

Management Accounting & Budgeting

Review P&L forecasts and budget variance analyses. Prepare management commentary for reporting and contribute to the annual budget cycle.

  • Review weekly P&L forecasts and align assumptions with business units
  • Prepare monthly budget variance analysis and present to management
  • Ensure accuracy of FX P&L details and verify proper reflection in financial reports
  • Support annual budget preparation and rolling forecast updates

FX Hedge Management

Lead execution of the FX hedge program. Responsible for managing FX forward contracts with financial institutions, monitoring hedge effectiveness, and maintaining and updating the hedge policy.

  • Execute FX forward contracts per hedge policy
  • Manage relationships and negotiations with FX/banking providers
  • Monitor hedge effectiveness and monthly FX P&L
  • Revise and maintain hedge policy in response to business changes
  • Report FX risk positions to Finance Manager and senior management

Requirements:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. (Professional qualifications such as CFA, ACCA, or CTP/Certified Treasury Professional are a strong plus).
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in Corporate Treasury or Finance, with a proven track record in managing cash operations and FX risk.
  • Deep technical proficiency in FX hedging (specifically FX forward contracts), hedge accounting, and monitoring hedge effectiveness.
  • Hands-on experience with bank infrastructure projects, including account concentration, cash pooling, and managing banking relationships (KYC/AML compliance).
  • Strong analytical skills in Management Accounting, with proven experience in P&L forecasting, budget variance analysis, and preparing financial commentary for senior management.
  • High-level proficiency in Excel and financial systems (e.g., ERP systems, Treasury Management Systems).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural, and global business environment.
