BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The Treasury Administrative Assistant is responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with tax-related inquiries within the Treasurer’s Office. This position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work independently while ensuring compliance with county financial policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILIES:

• Financial Transactions & Cash Handling:
• Receive, process, and balance daily payments, including property taxes and other county fees.
• Maintain and reconcile cash drawers to ensure accurate financial records.
• Balance deposits with taxes paid and bank transactions.
• Process and track revenue county-wide, ensuring alignment with the County Finance Program.
• Tax & Collections Administration:
• Research property tax listings and respond to tax-related requests.
• Conduct county-wide fieldwork for collections, as needed.
• Follow up on past-due accounts and assist with collection efforts.
• Administrative & Office Support:
• Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly financial reports.
• Answer phone calls and respond to routine inquiries from the public.
• Assist the Treasurer and other staff with administrative tasks as needed.
• Other Duties:
• Work irregular hours as required, including travel to the Artesia or Carlsbad offices.
• Attend job-related meetings, training, and professional development activities.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support Treasurer’s Office operations.

STARTING SALARY RANGE:

$28.23 - $31.15 per hour DOE
