About the team

The Group Treasury team acts as the in-house “banker” to our businesses, supporting them with banking and liquidity; payments advisory, management of foreign exchange, interest rate and commodity risk; and working capital efficiency.

In addition, the team is responsible for corporate balance sheet management, particularly in relation to long-term funding, dividend policy, capital management; maintaining strong relationships with the Group’s funding providers and rating agencies; and ensuring financial risk management objectives are met.

The team also supports the Wesfarmers’ Group acquisition and divestment activities.

What you’ll do

The Treasurer - Treasury Management provides hands-on leadership across the Group Treasury function.

Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Group Treasury, you will ensure Treasury activities are aligned with the strategic and commercial objectives of the Group, our Divisions and our Corporate teams.

You will:

  • Ensure best-in-class execution across all Group Treasury activities
  • Provide senior, hands-on leadership across day-to-day Treasury activities and actively support the Assistant Treasurers in execution within their respective pillars
  • Assist the Executive General Manager, Group Treasury on broader strategic activities to deliver specialist expertise across the Group
  • Act as a delegate to the Executive General Manager, Group Treasury on certain matters

You will also be accountable for delivering consistent, world-class Treasury support to our Divisions across:

  • Banking and liquidity management
  • Foreign exchange, commodity and trade risk
  • Payments, merchant acquiring and transaction banking
  • Supply chain finance
  • Internal cash management and reconciliation

At a Group level, you will ensure the execution of Treasury strategy, including:

  • Management of funding, liquidity, refinancing and interest rate risk
  • Optimising access to funding markets
  • Supporting corporate balance sheet outcomes, including dividends and capital management initiatives
  • Supporting equity and debt transactions and capital management execution
  • Managing banking and capital markets relationships
  • Supporting alignment of Treasury activity to ESG priorities
  • In addition to core Treasury activities, this role will assist the Executive General Manager, Group Treasury in supporting strategic transactions and major business projects across the Group

What you’ll need

This role asks for a commercially astute leader, able to operate across both strategic and operational priorities with strong judgement and influence.

You are a clear communicator; you lead by example and bring a hands-on execution focused leadership style.

You are comfortable working through complexity and change and can move seamlessly between detailed analysis and strategic decision-making.

You can synthesise complex information into clear, actionable insights that support effective decision-making and delivery for senior management and the Board.

Ideally you will arrive with:

  • A bachelor or master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline
  • A high-level of commercial judgement and the ability to influence decision-making in a complex environment
  • Extensive and broad knowledge across core Treasury disciplines, including operations, funding, liquidity, markets, financial risk, transaction banking, payments and working capital management
  • Exposure to structured or complex financings, as well as broader corporate transactions including M&A
  • Proven ability to lead through action rather than authority, including supporting teams through change and periods of intensity
  • A high level of integrity and the ability to operate effectively in confidential and external-facing situations
  • Exceptional stakeholder and project management skills, with the ability to drive outcomes across the Group
  • Experience operating within a senior leadership role or a comparable environment, with an execution & delivery focus
