Travel Superintendent – Commercial Roofing New Construction
Location: Anywhere in the United States
Travel: 100% Nationwide Travel
Compensation: $90,000–$100,000 annually, based on experience
Job Type: Full-Time
We are seeking an experienced Travel Superintendent to oversee commercial roofing new construction projects throughout the United States.
This is a 100% travel position designed for a hands-on construction leader who is comfortable managing projects in the field, coordinating crews and subcontractors, maintaining schedules, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate has strong commercial construction or commercial roofing experience, excels in fast-paced environments, and is comfortable being on the road year-round.
What You’ll Do
Project Leadership & Execution
- Oversee commercial roofing new construction projects from mobilization through completion.
- Develop and maintain short-term and look-ahead project schedules.
- Ensure projects remain on schedule and meet plans, specifications, contractual requirements, and quality expectations.
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, field crews, clients, and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor daily project progress and quickly address delays, scheduling issues, or field challenges.
- Conduct regular jobsite inspections to ensure safety, quality, and production standards are being met.
- Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, jobsite photos, drawings, change orders, and related records.
- Identify project challenges early and work with the project team to develop solutions.
Field & Resource Management
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, deliveries, and subcontractors.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites.
- Establish designated storage areas for materials and equipment.
- Ensure project schedules, safety information, plans, and required documentation are properly posted and accessible.
- Develop material delivery schedules based on each phase of the project.
- Track resource utilization to promote efficiency and control costs.
- Work with procurement and project management teams to coordinate materials and equipment.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure work meets project specifications.
- Conduct regular subcontractor and coordination meetings.
- Ensure onsite equipment is properly inventoried, maintained, and tagged for repair when necessary.
Quality & Safety
- Enforce company quality standards and ensure workmanship meets project specifications.
- Conduct ongoing inspections throughout each phase of construction.
- Maintain strict compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture among crews and subcontractors.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions before they become incidents.
- Properly document safety incidents and near misses and assist with preventative measures.
Communication & Reporting
- Provide regular project updates to management and project teams.
- Communicate project status, scheduling changes, resource needs, delays, and potential risks.
- Maintain professional communication with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Work closely with project management to resolve scope, schedule, and contractual issues.
Budget & Cost Control
- Assist with monitoring project costs and controlling unnecessary expenses.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs without sacrificing quality.
- Ensure change orders are properly documented, approved, and communicated to the appropriate internal teams.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of construction management or superintendent experience.
- Commercial construction or commercial roofing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing new construction projects from start to finish.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, jobsite operations, scheduling, and project coordination.
- Knowledge of commercial roofing systems and installation practices is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements.
- Proven leadership and crew-management abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Comfortable managing subcontractors, vendors, and multiple project stakeholders.
- Ability to read plans, specifications, and construction documents.
- Comfortable using project management software and technology.
- Ability to climb ladders and safely access commercial rooftops.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but equivalent industry experience will be considered.
Travel Requirements
This is a 100% travel position.
Candidates may live anywhere in the United States but must be willing and able to travel nationwide throughout the year based on project needs.
This position is best suited for someone who enjoys being in the field, traveling from project to project, and taking ownership of construction operations from beginning to completion.
