This teacher will primarily teach preschool-aged dance classes with a focus on hip hop, creative movement, and age-appropriate dance fundamentals at local daycares and community partner locations, including the Jewish Community Center in Scotch Plains, NJ.

This is a great opportunity for a dance educator who loves working with young children, brings positive energy into the classroom, and is comfortable independently representing Fusion Dance Centre at off-site locations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach fun, engaging, and age-appropriate dance classes for children primarily ages 2–6.
  • Lead classes focused primarily on hip hop and creative movement, while incorporating basic dance fundamentals, rhythm, coordination, musicality, and gross motor skills.
  • Follow Fusion Dance Centre curriculum, class structure, and teaching expectations.
  • Create a positive, encouraging, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Use age-appropriate classroom management techniques to keep young dancers engaged and participating.
  • Adapt activities and instruction based on the age, ability, and needs of each group.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes.
  • Travel to assigned local daycares, community programs, and the Jewish Community Center in Scotch Plains.
  • Communicate professionally with Fusion Dance Centre leadership and partner-location staff.
  • Maintain strong attendance and communicate scheduling concerns or absences promptly.
  • Represent Fusion Dance Centre professionally and positively while teaching at all off-site locations.
  • Assist with occasional demonstrations, performances, or special events related to off-site programs as needed.

Qualifications

  • Dance teaching experience preferred, particularly with preschool and early elementary-aged children.
  • Background in hip hop strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with children ages 2–6 in a dance, daycare, preschool, camp, or similar setting is a plus.
  • Energetic, outgoing, patient, and comfortable leading groups of young children.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be comfortable traveling to local teaching locations.
  • Must be able to meet any background check, fingerprinting, or other requirements established by Fusion Dance Centre or its partner facilities.

Schedule

Tuesdays: Daytime and afternoon availability required.

Additional weekday daytime and/or afternoon hours may be available based on daycare programming and teacher availability.

Classes will be held at local daycares and community partner locations, including the Jewish Community Center in Scotch Plains, NJ.

Additional teaching opportunities at Fusion Dance Centre may also be available based on experience and availability.

Travel

This position requires travel from Fusion Dance Centre to local daycares and community partner locations, including the Jewish Community Center in Scotch Plains, NJ.

Teachers traveling to approved off-site teaching locations will receive travel reimbursement in addition to their teaching compensation.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children and knows how to make dance class feel exciting, playful, and structured. We are looking for a teacher who can walk into a preschool classroom, immediately connect with the dancers, confidently lead the group, and provide the same quality Fusion experience our families receive at the studio.
