Responsibilities
- Deliver prescribed respiratory therapies to adult inpatients, including those in ICU and general pediatric units; NICU/PICU experience is required.
- Manage ventilation support and related equipment, adjust settings per physician orders, monitor patient response, and perform airway clearance techniques as appropriate.
- Administer nebulized and aerosolized medications, monitor for effectiveness, and document outcomes.
- Conduct timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (Epic) and collaborate with the care team during rounds and handoffs.
- Monitor and chart patient status, respond to changes in condition, and uphold infection control and safety standards; coordinate with physicians and nursing staff as part of the clinical team.
- Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling, including weekend assignments as needed; adhere to no-block scheduling policies and participate in scheduled orientations.
Requirements
- Credential: Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NBRC verification; CRT is not accepted.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of inpatient RRT experience; NICU or PICU experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP; NBRC verification on file.
- Specialty and setting: Experience in adult inpatient, adult ICU, and general pediatrics; NICU/PICU experience required.
- EMR: Epic experience within the past 2 years.
- License/eligibility: Active credentialing as an RRT; ability to practice in an inpatient hospital setting (travel assignment).
- Additional: Reliable transportation is required due to limited public transit options in the area.
