Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care for inpatient populations, including adult ICU and ED patients; NICU Level III required; PICU preferred.
- Administer prescribed therapies (nebulized meds, chest physiotherapy, humidification) and manage airway equipment; monitor ventilated patients and adjust settings per orders; document responses.
- Conduct patient assessments, perform ABG interpretation as needed, and document progress in the electronic medical record (Epic) with up-to-date notes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during rounds; participate in the weaning process for appropriate ventilated patients; respond to respiratory emergencies promptly.
- Maintain equipment and inventory, ensure infection control practices, and verify room readiness and alarm safety; no float to other units.
- Schedule flexibility required; weekends may be needed; no on-call responsibilities.
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential; NBRC verification; active license to practice in Vermont; CRT not accepted.
- Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, AHA NRP; NBRC verification required.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience; teaching hospital experience required; prior travel experience preferred; Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required.
- Special qualifications: Inpatient RRT coverage for Adult ICU and ED; NICU Level III required; PICU experience preferred; must be able to work in a teaching hospital setting.
- Other: Reliable transportation; public transportation not available in the area. Must be able to work in a 7-day schedule format with weekend coverage as needed; no block scheduling.
