Responsibilities
- Verify medical necessity for services and confirm patient status to support appropriate care and reimbursement
- Monitor ongoing need for services and assist with discharge planning and transitions of care
- Coordinate with providers and care team to optimize resource use and reduce unnecessary length of stay
- Ensure accurate clinical documentation to support proper reimbursement and CMS/Joint Commission compliance
- Communicate with payers to prevent denials and facilitate timely authorization and approvals
- Participate in reporting and quality improvement activities to support patient outcomes and operational efficiency
Requirements
- License: Active, current, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license to practice in the United States (any state, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory)
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of direct clinical nursing, with at least two (2) years in an inpatient setting on a medical-surgical unit, PACU, or higher-acuity inpatient unit (ICU, Step-Down, Telemetry), or in home health direct care
- Knowledge: Familiarity with case management, utilization review processes, and electronic health record systems
- Ability: Capable of functioning effectively in an inpatient surgical/admission and discharge workflow within a surgical center environment
