Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult nephrology telemetry patients, with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
- Manage peritoneal dialysis procedures and general telemetry care, including vascular access and fluid/electrolyte balance
- Administer medications, initiate IV therapy, and assist with renal/telemetry-related treatments as ordered
- Monitor vital signs and telemetry alarms; respond to changes in patient status and implement appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, PT, Respiratory, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response, Transport, Unit Secretary) to coordinate care
- Document care in the electronic health record (Epic); ensure patient safety, comfort, and accurate charting
Requirements
- Licensure: Active RN license in Missouri or a compact/state-to-state option; MO: submission without license allowed; IL: license in hand at submittal; Compact: must match permanent residence
- Certifications: BLS/BCLS and NIHSS
- Experience: 1–2 years preferred; first-timers accepted
- Specialty/skills: Peritoneal dialysis experience required; cardiac telemetry monitoring and renal patient care within an adult unit
- Scheduling: Ability to work nights on a 3x12 schedule; weekend shifts required (2 shifts every other weekend)
- Onboarding: Labs within 48–72 hours of signing; required pre-start modules; must complete 2 Fridays prior to start; fit-testing requirements
- Floating: Willing to float within scope/service line as needed
