Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in a perioperative/short-stay environment; monitor patient status and respond to changes.
- Serve as scrub technician when needed; support sterile technique and instrument handling in the operating context.
- Coordinate and delegate patient care with the health care team; communicate clearly with patients, families, and team members.
- Document history, physical data, assessments, medication administration, and discharge planning information in the medical record per policy; ensure accuracy and legibility.
- Recognize signs of cardiac, respiratory, or other emergencies; participate in Code Blue and other emergency responses as directed.
- Contribute to patient education, discharge planning, and staff development; participate in unit-based quality improvement and Lean daily management practices.
- Maintain infection control standards and patient privacy; support a respectful, collaborative work environment.
Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an approved nursing program.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice (California) required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required; ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire; AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification required.
- Experience: Minimum two years of recent RN experience in PACU or perioperative/short-stay settings; one-year recent acute care RN experience in an operating room preferred.
- Additional: Ability to work in a perioperative/short-stay hospital setting; strong communication and teamwork skills; willingness to participate in weekend and weeknight call shifts if needed.
