
Overview
Registered Nurse – PCU (Progressive Care Unit), Carbondale, IL. Travel assignment starting 08/17/2026 for 13 weeks in a hospital setting. Guaranteed 36 hours per week on the night shift (1900–0730) with a 4:1 patient ratio in PCU, focused on a mix of cardiac and respiratory care. Every other weekend and holidays are required; there is no on-call requirement, but overtime is available. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed, though a preferred schedule will be considered when possible.

Responsibilities
- Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs; develop and evaluate an individualized plan of care with the multidisciplinary team
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and interpret relevant cardiac and respiratory data; respond to changes in patient condition using nursing judgment
- Provide patient and family education, discharge planning, and instructions for ongoing care
- Maintain complete, accurate medical records and meet core measure responsibilities related to patient care
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to implement plans of care and evaluate patient outcomes
- Uphold a safe and respectful work environment, participate in ongoing education, and contribute to continuous quality improvement
Requirements
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
- CPR/BLS required; ACLS required
- PCU or progressive care unit experience preferred (demonstrated comfort with varied cardiac/respiratory acuity)
- Ability to work night shift and travel for a 13-week assignment
- Strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and ability to document clearly in medical records
- Willingness to participate in rotating weekend/holiday schedule as described
