Registered Nurse – PCU travel assignment in Olathe, KS. Start date 08/30/2026 for an 18-week contract in a Short Term Acute Care setting. Weekly pay ranges from $2,036 to $2,097 per week. Guaranteed hours: none. Shift: 3x12 Night shifts. This is a travel - temporary assignment supporting a PCU in a short-term acute care environment.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for PCU patients, including assessment, monitoring, medication administration, and updating care plans.
- Manage and monitor ventilatory support and related devices, including BiPAP, and address chest tubes and PICC lines as applicable.
- Draw own labs, initiate and adjust IV therapies, and perform procedures as delegated within scope.
- Respond to acute changes, perform codes when needed, and call on own consults while coordinating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Maintain appropriate patient-to-nurse ratios (3:1 or 4:1 tops) and support open-heart recovery Day 2 or Day 3 patients with pacer wires when required.
- Float to ICU and other inpatient units (Med/Surg, Med/Size Telemetry, Acute/Tele, and ED) based on unit needs and prior experience.
- Document thoroughly in the EMR and ensure accurate, timely handoffs during shift changes.
Requirements
- Current RN license in Kansas or Compact RN license
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHF certifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department experience
- Demonstrated ability with BiPAP, chest tubes, PICC lines, and drawing own labs
- Comfortable working without a dedicated vascular access team, calling on own consults, and conducting own codes
- Open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 experience with pacer wires preferred
- Ability to float to ICU and all inpatient units as needed
- Weekend requirement: Every Other Weekend
- Holiday requirement: Work one holiday from each group (Thanksgiving Eve/Day, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
- Education: RN licensure; active, in-state or compact license
