Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive bedside nursing care to adult patients in the PCU, including assessment, monitoring, and timely intervention
- Manage orders and therapies appropriate to PCU patients, including CRRT and BiPAP as needed, and perform/coordinate lab draws
- Care for post-operative and high-acuity patients, including chest tubes and PICC lines; participate in open-heart day 2–3 care when applicable
- Maintain readiness to float to ICU and other inpatient units (Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, ED) with established clinical competence
- Respond to codes and participate in multidisciplinary rounds; ensure accurate documentation in EPIC and adherence to unit protocols
- Provide patient- and family-centered communication, discharge planning, and coordination with the care team
Requirements
- Active KS RN license or Compact RN license
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHF certifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/Intensive Care Unit experience
- Experience with CRRT, BiPAP, drawing own labs, chest tubes, and PICC lines
- Comfortable conducting own codes; able to manage open-heart post-op day 2–3 care; pacer wires are a plus
- Floating to ICU and multiple inpatient units with prior relevant experience
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- On-call: none
- Holidays: unit needs may require work (including July 4th)
- New graduates: not accepted
- Orientation schedule includes initial on-site days and Epic training as part of onboarding
