This travel opportunity places an RN in a medical step-down unit with a patient population including sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, and chronic kidney disease. The assignment runs for 13 weeks with a guaranteed 48 hours per week and a night-shift schedule designed to meet unit needs. ACLS and BLS certifications are required, and a minimum of 2 years of RN experience in a medical step-down environment is expected.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, evidence-based nursing care to adults in a medical step-down unit, aligning with the plan of care and orders.
- Continuously monitor patient status, including vital signs, labs, and imaging; promptly identify and respond to clinical changes; escalate to the multidisciplinary team as needed.
- Administer medications and therapies (including IV therapy, analgesia, and organ-supportive medications) and document all interventions accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, pharmacists, and therapists to optimize patient outcomes; participate in daily rounds and care coordination activities.
- Implement and update care plans, perform ongoing assessment and discharge planning, and educate patients and families on condition, treatments, and post-discharge needs.
- Maintain high standards of infection control, patient safety, and device/line care; ensure appropriate nurse-to-patient ratio and adherence to unit policies.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years RN experience in a medical step-down unit or equivalent high-acuity medical-surgical setting
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- Ability to work a night shift in a 2x4 schedule
- Proficiency with electronic health records and bedside monitoring
- Demonstrated clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced inpatient environment
