Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult patients in a PCU/IMCU setting, aligned with physician orders and care plans.
- Monitor cardiac and respiratory status, perform regular assessments, and recognize early signs of deterioration.
- Administer medications and IV therapies, including heparin drips, monitor responses, and adjust treatment per protocol and orders.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care, communicate changes, and support disposition planning.
- Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record, ensure accurate handoffs, and maintain strict infection control and safety standards.
- Respond to emergencies, participate in problem-solving for complex cases (e.g., sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, COPD, CKD, encephalopathy), and uphold patient advocacy and education.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in PCU/IMCU or a comparable critical care environment.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Ability to work nights on a 2x4 schedule within a high-acuity hospital setting.
- Proficiency with IV therapy and infusion devices; comfortable managing anticoagulation therapy, including heparin drips.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Prior experience caring for patients with sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, CKD, and encephalopathy is a plus.
