Responsibilities
- Provide direct professional nursing care for postoperative patients in PACU, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
- Monitor vital signs, airway status, pain control, and recovery progress; intervene and escalate to the anesthesia or surgical team as needed.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other members of the health care team to coordinate timely and safe delivery of care for patients across all ages as assigned.
- Implement the medical plan of care, discharge planning, and patient education tailored to individual needs and input from patients and significant others.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to other nursing staff (including CNAs) based on current clinical competence and scope of practice; supervise and support team members to maintain high-quality care.
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record; ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in California
- Graduation from an approved nursing program
- Ability to work in a PACU/perioperative setting and to care for patients across age ranges as required by the unit
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with physicians and the health care team
- Willingness to participate in a travel assignment and comply with the 8-week duration
