Overview
Registered Nurse - PACU travel assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. Start July 20, 2026 for a 13-week contract in a hospital setting. Weekly pay range: $1,942 to $2,042 per week. No guaranteed hours. Rotating shift schedule. This role focuses on preoperative care and post-anesthesia recovery (Phase I and Phase II), supporting anesthesia and surgical teams in a dynamic PACU environment.

Responsibilities
- Provide post-anesthesia and recovery care for patients in Phase I and Phase II, monitoring stability and responding to changes in condition
- Assess incision sites, monitor body temperature, vital signs, pain, and other indicators of stability or complications; escalate as appropriate
- Administer medications and use unit equipment (PCA pumps, IV pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair Paws Warmers) per policy; operate monitors (HP/Phillips) and electronic documentation (Meditech)
- Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams to support safe recovery, airway management, and pain control; advocate for patient safety and comfort
- Document care and patient status accurately in the electronic medical record; communicate critical information to the care team
Requirements
- Hawaii RN license in good standing, active by start of assignment
- BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended and may be required for specific positions
- Minimum 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting; PACU experience may be substituted by applicable critical care experience
- Flu vaccination proof or facility-approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start date
- Ability to work rotating shifts (8, 10, 12 hours) including days, evenings, nights, weekends; on-call 0–3 times per month
- Eligibility to practice in Hawaii and ability to meet arrival requirements (arrive the Thursday before start to complete employee health clearance)
