The perioperative RN provides intraoperative care, serves as the patient advocate, and collaborates with the surgical team across patient populations in the operating room and perioperative services.

Responsibilities
- Deliver perioperative nursing care for intraoperative patients, act as a patient advocate, and supervise any personnel assigned to you.
- Participate in regular on-call scheduling for the Surgery Unit as part of the rotation.
- Protect patients from injury, ensure correct site/side/level procedures, and manage specimens according to policy.
- Administer medications safely, support wound and tissue perfusion, monitor fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balance, and prevent surgical site infections.
- Communicate patient status clearly to the care team across the continuum and maintain patient rights, dignity, and privacy; document nursing care accurately and completely.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, maintain required competencies, pursue ongoing professional development, and participate in required education for applicable programs (including DNV-related education as applicable).
- Agency staff may be floated to other departments where qualified before core staff are floated, per program guidelines.
Requirements
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing; Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- Licenses/ Certifications: Current RN license in the State of Oregon; BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; TNCC preferred.
- Experience: None required; previously value for perioperative/OR experience (circulator or scrub) is preferred; Peri-op 101 course and CRASE training are beneficial if the assignment extends beyond 6 months.
- Skills/Capabilities: Ability to work in a perioperative environment, demonstrate effective communication, patient advocacy, and teamwork; on-call rotation readiness; ability to adapt to a fast-paced surgical setting; may be floated to other departments where qualified.
