Responsibilities
- Perform preoperative assessments, verify orders, obtain informed consent, and prepare patients for the OR.
- Deliver perioperative nursing care in an outpatient setting, collaborating with anesthesia and surgical teams across pre-op, intraoperative, and PACU Phase II phases.
- Monitor patient status, manage sedation and analgesia as appropriate, and respond to changes in patient condition during the perioperative period.
- Maintain sterile technique, prepare and inventory surgical supplies, assist with instrument counts, and ensure equipment readiness.
- Facilitate rapid, safe patient turnover and provide education and discharge instructions to patients and families.
- Communicate clearly with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and support staff to coordinate care and optimize throughput.
Requirements
- California Registered Nurse (RN) license – active
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Approximately 2 years of perioperative/outpatient surgery experience; endoscopy and perioperative care strongly preferred
- Comfortable with pre-op and PACU Phase II workflows; capable of fast-paced environment and rapid turnover
- Experience with moderate sedation is a plus
- Ability to work a day shift with start times in the range of 5:30am–11:00am and participate in 4x10-hour shifts
