Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult medical and post-surgical patients on a telemetry unit
- Perform telemetry monitoring, rhythm recognition, and respond to rhythm changes and alarms
- Establish and maintain IV access, IV starts, and peripheral line care
- Administer non-titratable cardiac medications; assist with blood product administration as indicated
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team on care plans, discharge planning, and patient education; participate in daily rounds and SBAR communications
- Document thoroughly in Epic; maintain compliance with unit and hospital policies; may be floated to similar units as needed
Requirements
- Licensure: RN licensure in North Carolina or a Compact license (pending OK for submittal)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience; telemetry experience preferred; first-time travelers only if EPIC experience
- Certifications: BCLS/BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- Education: Standard RN education required (per RN practice), with ability to care for adult/geriatric populations
- Skills: Telemetry monitoring and rhythm recognition; IV starts; basic post-surgical and medical care; ability to work in an inpatient telemetry setting
- Other: Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required; pre-employment lab testing within 48 hours of signing; RTO up to 7 days auto-approved (no holidays during first week of assignment); RTO must be pre-approved; locals accepted
