Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to adults on a MS Stroke Stepdown unit, including monitoring neurological status and vital signs
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and supportive treatments per physician orders
- Manage cardiac and neurological assessments, document findings, and communicate changes promptly
- Utilize nursing skills to care for patients with stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, isolation precautions, and general medical-surgical conditions
- Operate unit equipment (IV pumps, NG/nutritional tubes) and implement feeding plans as ordered
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, participate in rounds, and ensure patient safety and quality of care
- Documentation in EPIC and adherence to unit protocols; support patient and family education
- Float to designated units as required by schedule; maintain professional appearance per unit guidelines (scrub color: navy)
Requirements
- Licensure: Current New York RN license with active status; NURSYS license verification required with all active RN licenses listed
- Certifications: AHA BLS required; NIHSS certification required (NIHSS can be obtained prior to start)
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of Med/Surg experience with stroke stepdown and travel experience
- EMR: EPIC experience preferred
- Other: Driver’s license with address matching demographics; up-to-date resume including 2+ years MS/stroke stepdown experience and travel experience; ability to float; RTO requests must be included at time of submission
