Overview
Registered Nurse – Med Surg (Travel) in Hilo, HI. Specialty: Medical–Surgical. Start date: 09/14/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,894-$2,046 per week. Guaranteed hours: 0.0. Shift: 3x12 Nights. Setting: hospital-based Medical–Surgical units with floating to Laulima and occasional Cardiovascular care.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on Medical Unit, Laulima Unit, and occasional Cardiovascular Unit, with floating as needed
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care; monitor patient status; administer medications and IV therapies per policy
- Document care in the Meditech EMR; utilize Pyxis for medication distribution; assist with wound VACs and chest tubes as applicable
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team; support discharge planning and patient/family education
- Maintain patient safety and comfort; adapt to unit protocols and staffing variations; follow unit ratios (Medical 1:6 days/eve, 1:8 nights; Laulima 1:6; Cardiovascular 1:4)
- Participate in unit orientation and onboarding; adhere to professional nursing standards and infection control practices

Requirements
- Hawaii RN license required by start date (active at assignment start)
- Documentation of immunity; exemption requests not accepted in lieu of immunization proof
- BLS required; ACLS preferred (PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC preferred)
- 2–10 years of RN experience in medical–surgical or acute care settings
- Ability to float to Medical Unit, Laulima Unit, and occasional Cardiovascular Unit
- Proficiency with Meditech EMR; familiarity with Pyxis, wound VAC, and chest tubes
- Availability for 12-hour night shifts; ability to work in a fast-paced, 77-bed Medical area and related surgical pathways
