Shift: Night shift, 2x3 schedule
Setting: Hospital medical–surgical unit
This is a travel, temporary assignment in a hospital setting serving adult and older adult populations. The assignment features a 32-bed Med/Surg unit with trauma patients, requiring careful monitoring and timely administration of medications, including heparin drips and other acute therapies. The unit uses standard electronic charting for patient documentation; BLS and ACLS are required, and staff will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adults on a Med/Surg unit, including trauma patients, with careful monitoring and timely interventions
- Administer medications and therapies as ordered, including heparin drips and other acute medications; monitor for adverse effects
- Conduct patient assessments, develop and update care plans, and document progress in the electronic medical record
- Monitor telemetry and respond to changes in patient condition; participate in code/rapid response as required
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, physical therapy, and other team members to coordinate care and plan safe discharges
- Assist with mobility and fall prevention using gait belts and geriatric chairs; support PT equipment when appropriate
- Ensure compliance with unit protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety standards
- Maintain BLS/ACLS readiness and participate in ongoing staff education as needed
Requirements
- Documented Med/Surg and telemetry nursing experience
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Ability to work night shift on a 2x3 schedule in an acute care setting
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; current RN license
- Proficiency documenting care in electronic medical records; ability to follow unit checklists and protocols
